Qualifications for Thailand's Special Tourist Visa
Applicants for a Special Tourist Visa must be:
- In accordance with Public Health Ministry regulations, foreigners from low-risk countries can apply.
- Accept preventive measures prescribed by the government, including alternative state quarantine (ASQ) in accredited hospitals/hotels for at least 14 days.
- Provide evidence of accommodation during the long stay.
- Provide proof of hotel accommodation or hospital admittance as alternative state quarantine facilities (ASQ).
Thailand STV requirements
- Health insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Thailand. Must buy from a Thai company.
- For In-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage of at least 400,000 Thai Baht per policy year.
- For Out-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage of at least 40,000 Thai Baht per policy year.
- Letter from health insurance which covers COVID-related medical treatment and coverage of no less than 100,000 USD/3.5 million THB, covering the whole intended period of stay. In case the applicant intends to stay in the Kingdom for more than one year, the health insurance should cover at least a period of one year
- You can't be banned from entering the Kingdom by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979)
- Applicants must have no criminal records in Thailand or their country of nationality or residence.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the country where the application is sent
- In accordance with Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535, you must not have any prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis)
- You can't work in Thailand under this visa.
Visa Fee and Validity
You'll have to pay 2,000 baht for a visa, and you'll be able to stay for 90 days if you're eligible. During this period, immigration officers will be able to renew the visa twice, each for 90 days. Foreigners have to apply and pay a fee.
